Enameled Glass Tiles
by Kathleen Eggert

These enameled glass tiles are intended to be installed or to be mounted on board as art panels. Each tile is individually carved in low relief by sand blasting. Multiple layers of vitreous enamel fired onto the tiles result in great depth and richness of color.

I have been developing techniques for enameling on glass for more than twenty years. Examples of my early work in tableware are in the permanent collection of the Corning Museum of Glass and my figurative sculptures are widely collected.

In addition to my own portfolio of designs inspired by the natural world, I welcome custom commissions. I can adapt my technique to any style of decor, often using a design element from another feature in the home as my starting point

I welcome the challenge of creating a custom design. This can take the form of individual accent tiles to be incorporated with other materials, borders, or complete murals. The commission process begins with a consultation with the client or designer. Based on their input, I will create full-size drawings and fired color samples for approval. An individual project may include a single size and design of tile repeated in quantity, a variety of designs that relate in theme or color, or a contiguous design over a set of tiles to create a mural. In every case, each tile will vary slightly. That is the nature and beauty of handcrafted work. Sizes and shapes can vary from 4"x 4", 4"x 8", 8"x 8" or any size that fits the needs of the design. Free form shapes can also be hand cut.
